Books about the
Teachers Group and Tvind

A 'history of the Teacher's Group revolution' by the critical Danish investigative journalist Frede Farmand, who has collected thousands of documents to support his account.
Farmand describes Amdi Petersen as a 'Master', who in almost Biblical terms, became a self-appointed revolutionary and saviour through his creation, the Teachers Group.
The first truly comprehensive glimpse into the 'project' behind the Tvind organisation and an important contribution to the story. (Danish only)

THE TRAVELLERS
(Den Rejsende)
by Hans la Cour
In Danish
(Sept 2002)

A personal account of 18 years in Tvind.
Hans la Cour was an idealistic young man who joined Tvind in the early days of the movement and rose to become a close confidant of Amdi Petersen.
During 18 years, he reveals how he helped launder money through the Humanitarian Fund, the Tvind charity that is now the subject of Amdi's prosecution. La Cour, now a TV producer in New Zealand, is a leading witness against Amdi and the other TG-members.
La Cour was in a central position in the Fund, a project-leader in some of the most important, extravagant projects, amongst them Global Research (2.4 million Danish kroner) and The Voice of The Third World (14 million Danish kroner).
He left the TG 12 years ago because, he says, he found out that the whole idea not was to help the suppressed masses of the world - but to help Amdi and the TG. He stayed silent for 10 years but 2 years ago he told Danish TV2 what he knew. In the book he - for the first time - tells the whole story about his life in the TG and his many meetings with Amdi. MORE DYING FLOWERS - a critical anthology on Tvind.
(Flere Visne Blomster - en kritisk antologi om Tvind)
by 21 former Tvind teachers
In Danish
(1980)
(285pp) (in Danish)
This was the first book in Denmark to take issue publicly with Tvind. It was put together during the mid-1970s by Palle Møller and Heinz Behncke, two left-wing but disillusioned Tvind students, after an unsuccessful journey with the Travelling Folk High School to south America. The students believed that Tvind was neither democratic nor genuinely revolutionary and fostered closed thinking. In a selection of poems, essays and fiction, the various contributors take issue with Tvind's claim to be a revolutionary alternative movement. The title, 'more dying flowers' deliberately harks back to Chairman Mao's famous 1957 dictum, 'Let a hundred flowers bloom' - which was of course followed by the Cultural Revolution and increased state repression in China. The authors believed the Tvind programme, which was closely modelled on Chairman Mao, also led to repression.
